“Mní Wichóni.” (“Water is life.”)
– Lakota proverb
Water mirrors the nature of life itself: calm, offering moments of peace, or wild, reflecting times of chaos and unpredictability. Life is a meandering stream; it can take unexpected turns, sometimes with urgency, other times patiently and deliberately. Lately, I’ve found myself navigating not just my own rapids, but also guiding others through theirs. “Going with the flow” in these moments isn’t always simple, but that’s okay; life isn’t meant to be simple all the time, and therein lies the hidden joy.
When you’re caught up in the unpredictable currents that life throws at you, remember that even the wildest river eventually finds its way to the sea. In those moments where I’ve felt swept up, I’ve learned that patience, empathy, and flexibility are as essential as a sturdy raft and a good paddle. The process may not always be smooth, but embracing the journey will lead to calmer waters.
