Preserving your seckel pears in this homemade syrup will give them a delicious taste.
Ingredients
- 4 quarts very ripe sickle pears
- Cold water
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 3 pints sugar
- 3 pints water
Directions
- Peel pears neatly, and drop them into cold water, to which lemon juice has been added.
- In preserving kettle, place sugar and 3 pints water; boil to form syrup. Remove black scum. Add pears and cook until tender.
- Place pears and syrup in 4 quart jars (or 8 pint jars). Close at once and set upside down to cool.
