Ingredients
- 2 cups freshly ground flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk powder
- 1 stick butter, softened
Directions
- Preheat oven to 450 F. Grease biscuit or muffin pans.
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and buttermilk powder.
- Cut in butter.
- Add enough water to the mixture to make a thick batter.
- Scoop batter into biscuit or muffin pans. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden-brown. Serve hot with any meal. If you have leftovers, cool them, wrap them in aluminum foil, place them in freezer bags or bowls, and freeze them for reheating.
- Note: After you cut in the butter, add 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese and 1 teaspoon garlic powder to make garlic cheddar biscuits. You can also add cooked bacon or sausage for an even heartier accompaniment to the soups and stews.
