One Bowl Chocolate Cake Recipe
2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 2 8- or 9-inch round cake pans or 1 9-by-13-inch baking pan; set aside.
2. In large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until well-blended. Add remaining ingredients. Beat, using electric mixer on low speed, for 1 minute, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on high speed for another 2 minutes, scraping bowl and beaters occasionally.
3. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
4. Cool for 10 minutes; remove cakes from pans to wire racks to cool completely. If baking in rectangular pan, cake can be left in pan to cool.
5. Frost as desired. Yields 8 to 10 servings.
