Spiced and roasted nuts are a tradition around the Christmas season. My family loves all kinds of nuts, but I couldn’t keep their hands out of the bowl when I created this mixture! This recipe combines a unique flavor combination of spicy and sweet that is downright addictive. If you want to add a little zing to your snacks or next party, think about trying these Spicy Sweet Nuts. Enjoy!
2 teaspoons olive oil
3/4 cup natural walnut halves
3/4 cup natural pecan halves
1/2 cup natural whole almonds
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
Heat the olive oil over low-medium heat.
Add the nuts and spices and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, until golden and fragrant, stirring often.
Crumble the brown sugar over the nuts and heat for another 3 minutes until the sugar has melted and covered the nuts.
These can be served warm or cool. (Give them about 15 minutes to cool if serving warm so that no one burns their tongue).
These will keep in an airtight container at room temperature for one week.
