With honey, lemon juice, cumin, garlic, parsley and garbanzo beans, you can fall back on this Favorite Homemade Hummus Recipe that’s a great snack on pita bread or crackers.
This Homemade Hummus Recipe, made from garbanzo beans and cayenne peppers, works wonderfully as a healthy, mid-day appetizer or snack with a cold, blended beverage.
Yields 2 1/2 cups
2 cans (15 1/2 ounces each) garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 to 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro or parsley
Cayenne pepper, to taste
Toasted Pita Bread Triangles (recipe follows), or crackers
Combine garbanzo beans, honey, lemon juice, ground cumin, minced garlic and salt in food processor or blender. Process until smooth. Remove mixture to serving bowl.
Stir in fresh cilantro and cayenne pepper. Serve with Toasted Pita Bread Triangles or crackers.
Toasted Pita Bread Triangles
Separate and cut rounds of pita bread to form 2 circles each. Cut each circle into 6 or 8 triangles. Place on baking sheet. Bake at 400 F until crisp and lightly browned at edges, about 5 minutes.
