Discover the best lamb burger recipe with juicy ground lamb, savory mushrooms, cheddar cheese, and simple seasonings. A flavorful cast-iron burger that’s easy to make.
Elaine has baked lamb burgers in our oven and the results have been quite pleasing, but preparing them on the stovetop in a grill pan raises this entrée to another level.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground lamb
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh spinach leaves
- Condiments of your choice
- Cheddar cheese
- 1 to 2 tablespoons wild or domestic mushrooms per burger (we often use chicken of the woods)
- Sliced onion
- Bread or buns for each burger
Directions
- Preheat a cast-iron griddle pan over medium-high heat.
- While the pan is heating, combine lamb, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Shape into 4 even patties.
- Brush the griddle pan with olive oil.
- Place burgers on the griddle pan. Cook approximately 5 minutes on one side, turn burgers over, and cook an additional 5 minutes on other side. You may have to adjust heat and cooking times to your stove. For safety, the internal temperature of burgers should reach at least 160 F.
- Place the burgers on buns or bread and dress according to your liking. We often use spinach leaves, mustard, cheddar cheese melted on top, and we finish with wild mushrooms and slices of onion.
