Bernice Schubert, Warren, Illinois, sends just such a recipe from a 1983 cookbook, “My-Oh-My Country Pies.”

Water Pie Recipe

1 cup flour
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
Dash salt
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups milk
9-inch pie shell
Butter

Heat oven to 450°F.

In large bowl, combine all ingredients, except pie shell, in order listed.
