Vinegar Pie
2 tablespoons butter
1?2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1?2 teaspoon cloves
1?4 teaspoon allspice
1?2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 cup water
Prepared pastryÂ
Cream butter and sugar. Add flour, spices, salt, egg, vinegar and water. Cook in top of double boiler until thick, stirring constantly.
Heat oven to 350°F. Line 8-inch pie plate with pastry. Bake crust for 3 to 4 minutes.
Pour hot filling into crust, and continue baking until crust is nicely browned.
Cool thoroughly and serve plain or topped with a meringue or whipped cream topping.
