The Strolling of the Heifers in Vermont is a three-day event now in its second decade.

Looking to get away to a small-town festival that celebrates slow living, local food and farming lifestyles of all kinds? Check out the Strolling of the Heifers festival June 7 through 9 in Brattleboro, Vermont. Life on the farm can be tough — there are years when rain is scarce, and work is oftentimes backbreaking. But for one day in a rural community, folks come together to celebrate all the positives of rural life.

“… From the beginning, the point of Strolling of the Heifers was to support and sustain family farms by connecting people with healthy local food, and by showcasing the farmers and food producers who bring it to them,” says the website.

The three-day event is now in its second decade and culminates with a Saturday parade at 10 a.m. that features cattle and farmers, as well as other livestock, as the main cast of characters.
