Buying local food keeps money circulating in your community.

Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food (KYF) Compass is a new web-based guide designed to highlight the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s support of local and regional food projects and producers.

The KYF Compass includes an interactive map that highlights various food projects and documentation on the projects’ results with case studies, videos and more.

The KYF initiative was launched in 2009 to assist in coordinating USDA resources and experts on local food. Seventeen agencies and offices collaborated on the project, part of the effort to fulfill mandates found in the 2008 Farm Bill.
