Adventures by Disney and AmaWaterways are combining their travel expertise to create family focused vacations with first-ever river cruising itineraries. Five sailings along the Danube River in the summer of 2016, as well as two holiday-themed sailings in December 2016, will include eight destinations in four countries – Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.
Features will include specially designed ships, ship-specific Adventures by Disney Adventure Guides, and experiences for “an unmatched experience that is immersive, all-inclusive and hassle-free.”
In Austria, for example, excursions will includes revisiting scenes from the movie “The Sound of Music,” exploring Devin Castle, and taking a traditional Austrian folk dancing lesson. Because river cruises offer more port time in each city, there’s more time for travelers to discover the destination through guided activities as well as individual exploration.
The special holiday-themed sailings will include visits to the Christmas markets in Budapest and Vienna, and a Vienna Boys Choir Christmas performance

New ship design
AmaViola and AmaStella, custom built by AmaWaterways, will feature specific room configurations, including six sets of connecting staterooms, as well as some rooms and suites that accommodate three- and four-person families, and other details that lend themselves to luxury family vacations.
Shipboard spaces are also specially geared towards children, teens and adults.
Shipboard activities will offer something for everyone. While adults enjoy wine tasting, music and dancing, their children and grandchildren will be enjoying activity nights, movies and games. Teens will also have activities and themed nights created specifically for them.
