Chicken Coop Ventilation Tips (Video)

Fresh air inside of a chicken coop is essential to raising healthy birds. A chicken’s feathers provide them with warmth and insulation from the cold. Any vents should be installed at an area out of any chicken’s reach. By placing vents on your chicken coop, it helps moisture inside the coop to escape, which prevents illness and respiratory diseases in the winter time.It’s also important to remember that there’s a difference between summer and winter ventilation. Adding windows that can be opened in the winter is a good way to keep your flock cool and provide air-flow. South-facing windows are also a good way to maximize solar gain and to help keep chickens warm in the winter time.
