As demand for meat and wool increases, the American Sheep Industry Association is calling on producers to work on increasing flock size. Called Let’s Grow With twoPLUS, the initiative asks producers to expand their sheep flock numbers by 2014, resulting in 315,000 more lambs and an additional 2 million pounds of wool ready for market. The three goals are for each producer to add two ewes per operation or per 100; to increase the birthrate to two lambs per ewe per year; and to increase the lamb harvest by 2 percent.
