Honey is the last step, but it sets off this rice pudding recipe.

Nobody does it like grandma, but you can give it a try with this rice pudding recipe.

Grandma’s Honey Rice Pudding

1 cup rice
2 cups water
8 cups milk
2 cinnamon sticks
8 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 1?2 cups pure honey

In large saucepan, combine rice and water. Cover and cook over medium heat until water is evaporated and rice is tender. Add milk and cinnamon, and bring to simmer, stirring constantly.

In bowl, beat eggs and vanilla. While stirring eggs, slowly pour 1 cup hot milk mixture into egg mixture. Add another cup hot milk mixture. This will bring up the temperature of the eggs without cooking them.

Add warm egg mixture to saucepan, stirring constantly. Add honey and stir until mixture thickens. Allow to cool before serving. Yields 6 to 8 servings.
