Music that’s as American as the flag
If you like country music, or Western music – or would just like to learn the difference – you might want to make your way to Iowa this summer. The National Traditional Country Music Association, based in Anita, Iowa, hosts an annual festival to spotlight the many varieties of American music. The latest offering, the 32nd Annual National Old Time Country and Bluegrass Festival and Pioneer Ag Exposition of Arts and Crafts, will be held August 27-September 2, at the Harrison County Fairgrounds in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
Under the umbrella of “old-time country music,” the association preserves and performs traditional country, bluegrass, mountain, prairie, ragtime, Cajun, polka, cowboy, Western, hillbilly, folk and other forms of America’s musical art.
The association’s corporation also funds the Pioneer Music Museum, America’s Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame, America’s Old Time Fiddlers Hall of Fame, and the Oak Tree Opry.
