Twenty-six larger-than-life lighted works of art from Zigong, China, are slated to be on exhibit from May 26 through August 19, 2012 at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis. “Lantern Festival: Art by Day, Magic by Night” celebrates Chinese culture with outdoor sets of silk and steel in an exhibition that is the first of its kind and size in the United States.

A team of artisans from Zigong will spend two months constructing the 26 multi-piece sets from scratch. The final works of art are lit from within or are outlined with a piping of lights to illuminate the sets for the evening displays.

Emerson, an international technology company based in St. Louis, is the primary sponsor of the Lantern Festival. For more information, visit the Missouri Botanical Garden’s website or call toll free 800-642-8842.
