Homemade Corned Beef Recipe Made With Round Steak

Using flank steak for corned beef allows the cook to make a smaller portion of the traditional meal.

Homemade Corned Beef Recipe

4 to 5 pounds beef rump roast or doubled thick-sliced round steak
12 garlic slivers (3 cloves garlic, quartered)
12 whole cloves
1/3 cup tender quick salt
2 cups cold water

Cut pockets in beef and insert garlic slivers and whole cloves.

Place beef in plastic or glass container and cover with brine made of salt and water. Be sure meat is covered with brine. If necessary, make additional brine in like proportions.
