Flat Creek Farm

By Tammy Williams

We have been married nearly 31 years and reside upon the family farm – our portion being about 130 acres. We each have jobs outside the farm – mine in the legal field & Mr. W is in retail now (after his automotive industry job was sent offshore in 2008). We have a small herd of cattle. Hay is harvested in the summer months for feed in the winter. The Mr. is a blacksmith by hobby. Our 27 year old son recently returned to the farm after living in Texas for two years. He is an accomplished fiddler and if we’re really lucky , he’ll provide some front porch fiddling music for us on occasion. I enjoy taking care of our resident pets: Ruby and Gracie the miniature donkeys, our dogs – Chloe & Banjo, our various cats, and two special Brown Chinese geese – Grady & Greta. My family and my animals are my main interests, but I also have an ever-changing list of hobbies and crafts in the mix. I promise a variety of posts in our blog, but my personal favorites are the semi-regular “Thursday Walkabouts” in which I walk around our yard and farm, capturing the simple beauty we normally take for granted.
