Raising Chickens at School

GRIT Magazine is proud to promote sustainable-living projects in schools, like this community-sponsored chicken coop project. 

An innovative school is putting together a project for all grades to participate in: designing a chicken coop and eventually raising their own chickens.

After visiting one student’s home and seeing their two chicken coops, the principal gathered pledges from local businesses to fund the construction of a chicken coop. Each grade at the school is responsible for designing one portion of the future coop, and all will get to participate in raising the chickens.
