Ah, citrus season. While we can’t even think about growing oranges and lemons outdoors in Calgary, we’re seeing the bounty of warmer climes on our grocery and market shelves. I’ve been eating Cara Cara oranges like they’re going out of style, and this past week I tried a mango orange for the first time. And Meyer lemons … well, I’ve been pretty much hoarding them. They’re like pure sunshine on the cold, snowy days we’ve been having here!
If you’ll remember my last blog post, I was making ginger syrup (http://www.grit.com/food/recipes/ginger-syrup.aspx) ... here's how I’ve been drinking it to give myself a needed Vitamin C boost.
1/4 cup prepared ginger syrup
1/2 fresh lime, squeezed
Top off with cold sparkling water in an 8-ounce glass. Add ice if you wish.
