This cake travels well, making it ideal for picnics, potlucks and bake sales.

Ingredients
Cake:
- 1⁄2 cup orange juice
- 1⁄2 cup plain yogurt
- 11⁄2 cups cake flour
- 1 teaspoon double-acting baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄4 teaspoon cloves
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups peeled, chopped figs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Mocha Frosting:
- 1 2⁄3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1⁄8 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons strong coffee, hot
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
- Position oven rack in center of oven. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease tube pan; set aside.
- To make cake: In small bowl, whisk together orange juice and yogurt until smooth. Set aside.
- Into large bowl, sift cake flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and baking soda. Set aside.
- In medium bowl, using electric mixer, cream butter until soft. Add sugar, and mix until creamy and light. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add sifted ingredients to butter mixture in 3 additions, alternating with orange juice-yogurt mixture, stirring after each addition until smooth. Add figs and vanilla, and mix to blend.
- Pour batter into prepared pan, and bake for about 50 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool completely.
- To make frosting: Sift powdered sugar and cocoa into medium mixing bowl. Stir to combine. Set aside.
- In large bowl, using electric mixer, cream butter until soft. Add sugar mixture gradually, beating until creamy. Add salt and coffee, and beat for 2 minutes. Let cool, then blend in vanilla. Let frosting stand for 5 minutes.
