2/3 cup butter, softened
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2 3/4 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups milk
Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In large bowl, cream together butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla; beat about 5 minutes on high speed.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Using mixer on low speed, mix in flour mixture alternately with milk to butter mixture.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes for round, layer pans, or 45 to 50 minutes for rectangle baking dish.
