Homemade cornmeal dumplings; does it get any better?!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fine-ground cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs, such as tarragon, parsley, thyme, sage, dill or basil
  • 3/4 cup whole milk

Directions

  • Sift together cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in herbs.
  • Add milk and mix to form soft dough, adding more milk if necessary. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  • Drop by tablespoons into boiling stew and cook for 20 minutes.
