Homemade cornmeal dumplings; does it get any better?!
Ingredients
- 1 cup fine-ground cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons fresh herbs, such as tarragon, parsley, thyme, sage, dill or basil
- 3/4 cup whole milk
Directions
- Sift together cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in herbs.
- Add milk and mix to form soft dough, adding more milk if necessary. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Drop by tablespoons into boiling stew and cook for 20 minutes.
