A simple mixture of bouillon and water adds a tasty twist to this Grilled French Dip Burger from Omaha Steaks.
Grilled French Dip Burger
1 ciabatta sandwich bun
1 teaspoon mayonnaise
2 ounces brie cheese, sliced
1 hamburger patty
3 tablespoons caramelized onions (see Bourbon Onion recipe)
1/2 cup beef broth*, warmed
Over medium-high heat, heat large nonstick skillet or fire up grill.
Prepare caramelized onions ahead of time using Bourbon Onion recipe, omitting the bourbon.
Trim thin slice off top and bottom of ciabatta bun to create flat surface. Then slice each bun in half horizontally. Lightly spread mayonnaise on outside of ciabatta bun, to enhance browning. Place bun, mayonnaise-side down, on grill or in pan. Top each bun with cheese slice to toast bun and melt cheese.
Season burger with seasoning blend. Grill, broil or pan-fry burger until internal temperature reaches 160°F.
Top burger with caramelized onions. Place burger on one toasted bun, then top with remaining bun. Cut in half and serve with beef broth for dipping. Yields 1 serving.
*For simple broth, mix 2 bouillon cubes with 1 cup of boiling water.
