Teaching Gardening With Kids

One local Kansas program that teaches young children about gardening and where food comes from is in need of community support. Healthy Sprouts shows children the importance of growing food that not only nourishes their bodies but their communities as well. The organization involves more than 1,000 youngsters in day-care centers and sponsors activities like planting gardens and visiting local farms to encourage family engagement and wellness. Funding for the organization’s 2014 season has been cut, but an Indiegogo campaign is currently taking donations to keep the program going. To find out more and donate, visit Indiegogo.
