Forestry Internship

Graduate students take note: The Forest Guild is offering an internship working on forest related issues in New Mexico.

| January 30, 2009

The Forest Guild is seeking a graduate level student to work on forest related issues in New Mexico. The internship is based out of the organization’s Santa Fe office and will assist Forest Guild staff in a variety of ongoing community forestry and youth training initiatives. The candidate will be expected to travel to project sites and communities throughout the state, and assist staff with ecological and socio-economic monitoring, trainings, youth education, and general field work.

The deadline for application is February 14.

The Forest Guild, a national organization of foresters and allied natural resource professionals, is dedicated to promoting excellent forestry. The guild has nearly 700 members, over half of whom are professionals who manage, collectively, 42 million acres of forest land in the United States and Canada. These members include foresters who work for small and medium-size companies, state land managers who oversee forest operations on large ownerships, foresters who manage lands for investment companies and consulting professionals who advise and assist private landowners. The guild's National Office and the Southwest Regional Office are located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The guild maintains regional offices in Massachusetts and California.

The successful candidate for this internship will have experience with forestry and/or ecology-based field work, excellent data collection and communication skills, and interest in learning and working with New Mexico's Native American and traditional Hispano peoples.

Send resume and cover letter explaining your interest and qualifications to Eytan Krasilovsky, eytan@forestguild.org, before February 14.
