W.A.S.P.s Guide to Country Life

I grew up in Louisiana between Slidell and New Orleans in busy kitchens and big backyard gardens.  With an early education in cooking and crafting from my mother and grandmother, I felt confident that I had a firm grasp on country life.  However, soon after marrying my self proclaimed “country” boy husband, I found that our new rural home offered opportunities I never imagined in the suburbs.  Slowly but surely I am learning to take advantage by managing a large kitchen garden, preserving as much as I can, raising chickens, and resolving to take new steps to self sufficiency every day.
