Kohler® Generators, a premium manufacturer and marketer of world- class generators and automatic transfer switches, and the Great Hurricane Blowout, a hurricane preparedness campaign by the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH®), are challenging families to turn off their power for the evening of September 16, 2012 and “test drive” their emergency kits while preparing a meal without electricity. Participants may also submit their best power-loss recipes as part of the “Dine in the Dark” sweepstakes to win a stay at The American Club Resort Hotel in Kohler, Wis., the only Forbes Five-Star Resort Hotel in Wisconsin and the Midwest’s only AAA Five Diamond Resort Hotel.
“This contest brings to light, in a fun, engaging way, the need for families to prepare for hurricane season and other weather-related emergencies throughout the year,” said Melanie Tydrich, senior channel manager of residential/light commercial generator products at Kohler Co. “Having a plan that includes an emergency kit containing non-perishable foods and recipes using a power-free cooking source offers the best protection for your family during a post-emergency power outage.”
The grand prize winner will receive an overnight stay for two at The American Club Resort in Kohler, Wis., including one spa treatment for each person at the Five-Star Kohler Waters Spa and two dinners for two during the winner’s stay, plus a cash allowance for travel to and from Kohler. The Dine in the Dark sweepstakes ends November 15, 2012. To enter, and for contest rules, visit www.greathurricaneblowout.org/prepare_dine.php and click on the “Dine in the Dark” banner.
