Living the Simple Life
Here's my recipe for making homemade mayonnaise.
Mayo
2 eggs 1 t mustard powder 1 t salt 1/4 c white vinegar 1/2 c oil small pinch paprika
Blend in food processor 2 minutes. Drizzle 1 1/2 cup oil while blending. Makes 2 cups.
Laura, welcome to the GRIT blog community. I really don't use mayonnaise much. Your recipe sounds like something that I would like with the mustard power. I find it interesting that the color is not more yellow or maybe it is as I'm partially color blind to pastel colors. Especially green, brown, and yellow.
I've just discovered the heirloom seed catalog called Baker Creek. I am overwhelmed at the moment from looking through the seed catalog. I do like to plant heirloom seeds. I hope to start saving the seeds as 25 tomato seeds for $2.75 seems like a lot to me. I mean one can hardly see 25 tomato seeds in a package. I can remember Mom planting tomatoes from a big fat seed pack and just broadcasting them in the row and weeding out the weak ones to the right spacing. Boy how things have changed. I'm from Nebraska and back when I was teenager and helped my uncle on the farm seed corn was bought by the bushel. Now it's purchased by the seed count. Well, it's been a long time since I was teenager and away from gardening for over 40 years. I was quite shocked at the price of seed and how little comes in a package. The package weighs 10 times more than 25 tomato seeds. Goodness, I could have ever so many more seeds just by saving the seeds from one tomato.
As you can tell I get a little long winded and climb on the soapbox on occasion. .... Ok, quite often.
Have a great day and once again welcome to the community. I look forward to hearing more about your garden experiences.
