Date Cake Recipe
1 cup boiling water
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg
1 cup chopped nuts
Heat oven to 350°F.
Pour water over dates and let stand until cool.
Mix together all ingredients.
Pour into Bundt or springform cake pan, or into 15 1/2-by-10 1/2-by-1-inch cake pan and bake for 1 hour.
Broiled Coconut Frosting Recipe
2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 can (3 1/2 ounces) coconut
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Mix ingredients; spread on top of warm cake.
Broil 4 to 5 inches from broiler until lightly brown, about 5 minutes.
