Old-Fashioned Cornbread Recipe
4 cups cornmeal
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons salt
4 eggs, beaten
4 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup bacon drippings
Heat oven to 400ºF. Grease a 10 1/2 inch skillet and heat in oven
for 3 minutes or until very hot.
In a mixing bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add eggs and
buttermilk; mix well. Stir in bacon drippings. Pour batter into hot skillet and
bake for 40 minutes, or until golden brown.
Yields 8 to 10 servings.
