Carbon neutral shopping offers you the chance to reduce your carbon footprint with just the click of a mouse. Here’s how it works: Do your online holiday shopping exactly as you usually do, but visit your favorite commercial sites through www.EarthMoment.com. EarthMoment.com is a portal that allows shoppers to buy the exact same products (for the same price) from some of the same stores where they already shop. A portion of the purchase is donated to a well-respected organization that supports carbon-reducing projects such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestration projects.

EarthMoment.com has partnered with roughly 1,000 retailers like Target, Barnes & Noble, Walmart and Apple to give back a portion of each sale, so long as the consumer accesses the store site through EarthMoment. The entire list of stores can be found here. Going to any shopping site from this page – just one extra click – tells the retailer to set aside a portion of the sale to offset carbon emissions through tree planting, light bulb donations, or investments to renewable energies.
Shoppers can even decide how they want that money to be used, should they choose to. A distinct feature of EarthMoment.com is the annual emissions tracker that allows shoppers to measure their emissions and displays the carbon offset produced by purchasing products through the website. Shoppers simply create a profile before shopping, and EarthMoment tracks ands coordinates all donations made from purchases.
