Fostering and adopting rescued animals, in this case, dogs, is a wonderful experience. Watching them change from frightened, shy dogs to playful, happy dogs is rewarding. I was a Foster Mom, now Failed Foster Mom, as one person called me because I adopted all four dogs whom I fostered. (Apparently, this happens to many foster parents.)

As I was leaving for work this morning, Woodrow, our year-old Cairn terrier, was nowhere to be found. I was actually a little pleased at the thought that he might be off marauding some pesky rodent or snake, an action that had the added benefit of him not following me down the lane and up the road.
