I wrote this blog with such fondness of spirit as I recalled how much fun it was to visit Cousin Callie's house, enjoy a delicious meal and bask in her down-to-earth sense of hospitality and generosity. Even the trip through the woods was a treat.

I was glad Mrs. Brown lived near us, so I could visit her often and look at her flowers with such longing eyes that occasionally, she'd grace me with a big, beautiful bouquet of every color under the sun.

In the 50s and 60s, there was a man (who came to our rural community) who had a store on the back of his truck - an old-fashoned peddler. He took his goods to the countryside homes where housewives didn't go into town much.

One more weekend as a volunteer photographer at Recall Lagrange. The 150th anniversary of the burning of the college and town. My garden room is coming along nicely, only I didn't realize the weight of all the tile I had to haul up the steps.

We all need to conserve water no matter the state in which we live. This resource has become a scarcity to many and a battle for some. There are several simple and effective ways each of us can do our part to cut back and resource our water consumption.

We have seen the news stories about food shortages.Drought and famine seems to be growing in the news. Drinkable water is quickly becoming more and scarce. Chemicals are added to our drinking water to “protect” end users from disease and bacteria.

I was too glad that I never had an encounter with the dreaded, Arkansas black panther, but it was, and still is a reality for that part of the South. Night hunters came across them, but they never shot one and brought it for everybody to see

I sort of liked the old-fashioned icebox. It was a challenge to see how long we could keep a block of ice and how long the ice would keep our food cold.

I was so glad when we finally got electricity. Then, all you had to do was pull the string that turned the light blub on. No more oil lamps.

Spring has finally arrived in Alabama. With the cold and rainy spells, farmers are over 2 weeks behind planting. Garden tours and historical tours are the norm this month. Spring flowers are popping out.
