calendar! The Columbia Basin Goat Guild hosts a full-day workshop, May 14, at
Gateway Farms in Centerville,
Washington. The Goat Academy
workshop promises to be one of the most comprehensive programs in the Northwest.
Attendees will participate in hands-on lessons covering a variety of goat-related
topics, including hoof care and trimming, tattoo, ear tags, banding, blood
draws, tube feeding, FEC analysis, shearing, fiber assessment, pack goats,
harness goats, milking, show fitting meat and dairy, genetics and more. The day
is packed with information, and many classes will take place simultaneously.

Lunch of barbecued
goat and salads is included at no additional cost.
The academy is
open to young and old alike, and it provides a wonderful opportunity to
practice skills under the mentorship of experienced teachers.
Cost is $25 a
day if registered before April 25, or $35 at the door. Groups of four or more
are $20 each, and children under 6 are free. Proceeds from Goat Academy
help support various goat-related promotional activities provided by the Guild.
