Buck's New Boots

 Yep...they make 'em for horses.

This spring, (BC...before crutches),

Buck was ordered a fancy new pair, in lieu of metal horseshoes.

Buck came to us with compromised hooves, many years ago.

The hoof will reveal a lifetime of nutrition, or lack thereof.

We felt, in Buck's case, a boot of this nature would serve him well.

Less invasive, and worn only when ridden.

We weren't sure what to expect...but you know what?

He liked them...

These boots were made for walkin'...

Until tomorrow, God willing.

Nice boots Buck! Better than those nasty metal shoes...(Said from the lips of a true boot lover) MBD

Thank you Nebraska Dave and K.C., for your kind words. Yes, we were happy the farrier suggested an alternate route. I love a less-invasive route too! Buck is one of 4 horses, so he isn't ridden daily, but from this point on, he will have the comfort and support he needs as he heads out. K.C. - we have 23 sled dogs, so I understand how booties come flying off as you head down the trail. I guess that's why getting boots for Buck wasn't too far a stretch for us. ;)

Sherry and Russ, what a great way to protect a problem horse hoof. I suspect the reason Buck likes the shoes is that it makes his feet feel better. I know that my feet feel better when I have a good fitting pair of boots on. I'm glad to hear that Buck got a good home that cares about nutrition and hoof care. Have a great horse riding day.

I love these! What a cool idea. I'm glad Buck didn't try to shed himself of them immediately. I used to put "musher booties" on my dogs to keep the ice out of their paws when I lived in Wyoming, and we were fine after they quit shaking their paws. :=] --KC
