Kentucky history, juried arts and crafts, music and lots of local color are on tap for the 31st annual Constitution Square Arts Fest in the heart of historic downtown Danville, Kentucky. The festival, a Kentucky Tourism Council Top 10 Designated Event, will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 18-20. This award-winning celebration of Kentucky origins takes place on Main Street in downtown Danville as well as at Constitution Square State Historic Site, where the events surrounding the drafting and signing of Kentucky’s Constitution occurred in 1792.

There is no admission charge to attend the festival.

Visitors can expect strolling musicians, pioneer living history encampments and craft demonstrations. The sounds of dulcimers, guitars, fiddles and singing will envelop the grounds as continuous entertainment takes place during the three-day festival. Whatever genre of music – country, folk, gospel, bluegrass, swing, jazz, blues, bag pipes or toe tapping tunes – the festival will be music to one’s ears.

And “shop ’til you drop” is a fact, as 80 fine arts and craft booths make up the core of the festival. Considered by many to be one of the top craft shows in Kentucky, the festival offers everything from the traditional (quilts, baskets and pottery) to the more contemporary (sculpture, jewelry and blown glass). In addition, one can find beautifully designed stained glass creations, antiques, Shaker reproductions, pressed flowers, birdhouses, painted gourds, stone creations, clothing plus visual arts, foods, books, music and wood products.

Friday is a School Day and children will enjoy the activities scheduled just for them: adopt a pet from the local Humane Society; feed and pet animals; face painting; sand art; and learn how to become a potter, to name just a few. These hands-on activities attract children of all ages.  Round out the day with a carriage ride through historic downtown Danville or tour Dr. Ephraim McDowell's historic house, The Great American Doll House Museum or the Community Arts Center.  Don’t forget the great food and drinks offered by local civic groups.  Visitors can also participate in the 5K Run on Sunday afternoon.
