Homegrown.org, Farm Aid’s online community and social network that celebrates those who grow, cook, brew, bake, sprout, build and do it themselves, is creating a homesteading and farming area at the 4th Annual Maker Faire Bay Area called The Homegrown Village.

Following President Obama's call to "begin again the work of remaking America," Maker Faire 2009 is organized around the theme of Re-Make America. Happening in the San Francisco Bay Area May 30-31, Maker Faire will celebrate what President Obama called "the risk takers, the doers and the makers of things." The fourth annual Maker Faire will showcase individual creativity and grassroots innovation in the largest festival devoted to DIY culture and technology in the country.

In the Homegrown Village, makers will share methods of “Re-Making America” such as urban farming, Permaculture, fermentation and preservation with Karen Solomon, author of Jam It, Pickle It, Cure It, greywater and rainwater reclamation, urban foraging and more. Profiles of these makers will be posted on the Homegrown.org blog.

The Homegrown Village at Maker Faire celebrates what you do: growing, preserving, building, sprouting, brewing, urban farming – anything DIY and homestead-y. This is the most inspiring gathering of creative and passionate Do-It-Yourself-ers and promises to be a really fun time.
