The National Park Service’s Foster Horse Program allows citizens to help the horses of Assateague. For a small fee, individuals can choose a horse to support. In return, participants receive a photo of the horse, a certificate and a map of where it lives. The donations are specifically used to manage and protect the Assateague horses and their island home.
